Naoko Kishita

Research Capacity Development Co-Lead

Dr Naoko Kishita is an Associate Professor in Dementia and Complexity in Later Life at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the Co-Lead for NIHR ARC East of England’s Research Capacity Development workstream.

Naoko joined the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia in July 2013. She has over 15 years of research and clinical experience in mental health care, with a particular focus on supporting family carers, older adults, and mental health in later life. She has led multiple research programmes, including the NIHR-funded iACT4CARERS project, which aims to improve the mental health of family carers of people with dementia.

Her research interests include the use of technology to deliver psychosocial interventions, with the goal of improving accessibility and equality of opportunities for care. She is also committed to the cultural adaptation of interventions to ensure they are inclusive and accessible to people from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Naoko is passionate about research capacity building and has mentored a diverse group of clinicians and researchers at various career stages from Brazil, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK.
