About Research Inclusion at ARC East of England

Our Research Inclusion workstream creates an inclusive research environment, supports accessible and participatory research methods, and ensures public partners help shape studies. Learn how we are putting this into practice.

Research Inclusion

NIHR ARC East of England Research Inclusion Workstream approach will:

  • Create an Inclusive Environment and Workforce for all researchers, students, ARC fellows and public partners. We will offer co-developed training, support and resources.
  • Develop Inclusive Research for Participants, so that research is accessible to all - using research inclusive methodologies.
  • Inclusive Shaping of Research for Public Partners ensuring members of the public prioritise, design and implement research. See more information on the Patient, Public Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PPIEP) page.

Achieving Our Research Inclusion Vision

Embracing Research Inclusion Challenges and Opportunities:

Draw together evidence around Research Inclusion from across ARC research themes and projects.

Inclusion Community of Practice:

Through our Community of Practice webinars, we share inclusive methodologies through our existing community of practice and discuss positive examples of research, practice and coproduce solutions to overcome challenges.

Impacting Inequalities of health and Social Care:

Co-produce and prioritise research that address health inequalities.  Work in collaboration with internal ARC researchers, public partners, external partners, other NIHR infrastructure and health and social care practitioners to action active research inclusion.

Developing and Maintaining an Inclusive Research Culture:

Support training and development workshops co-led with public partners collaborating with RCD and PCEIP workstreams to support Research Inclusion within and across the ARC. Topics may include Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, intersectionality, Health Inequality Assessments, ethics, impact of AI and accessibility.  Training and development open to all within the ARC and also external partners including National Webinars.
