Helen Abnett completed her PhD in Social Policy at the University of Kent in 2022. Between 2021-22 and 2023-24, she worked as a Research Fellow in the Third Sector Research Centre, University of Birmingham, primarily contributing to the Wellcome Trust-funded programme ‘Border Crossings: Charity and Volunteerism in Britain’s mixed economy of healthcare since 1948’. In 2022-23, she held an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship, also at the University of Birmingham, exploring the gaps and links between research in the Social Policy and Development Studies disciplines. Prior to completing her PhD, Helen spent 15 years working in a range of roles within the voluntary sector.
