Claire is a Professor of Health Care Research at the University of Hertfordshire and a researcher in NIHR ARC East of England’s Social Care, Dementia and Ageing theme.
Claire district nurse by background and a Fellow of the Queen’s Nursing Institute. In April 2016 she was appointed a National Institute of Health Research Senior Investigator.
Her research focuses on the health and social care needs of the oldest old, including those affected by dementia and living in long term care. She led the NIHR funded DACHA study (Developing research resources And minimum data set for Care Homes' Adoption and use).
In 2024, Claire was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to older people.
