Angus Holford

Researcher

Dr Angus Holford is an economist at the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex. He works on the ARC’s Prevention and Early Detection in Health and Social Care, and Measurement in Health and Social Care themes, mainly through work on the impacts of local food environments on children’s health outcomes. Angus is a labour economist by training and background through which has built an ongoing agenda on the impacts of school food policies on children’s health, having led and co-led two grants from the Nuffield Foundation on the impacts of Local Authority-led and national Infant Universal Free School Meal schemes. Angus’ more interdisciplinary work includes having been a co-investigator on NIHR grants on the dietary effects of Free School Meals in secondary schools and to help adapt a healthy eating intervention to Special Schools or those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision.
