Alvin Hui is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Essex and a researcher in NIHR ARC East of England’s Mental Health and Wellbeing theme.
His research interests centre around poverty and social inequalities in health, with a particular focus on the intersections between migration, mental health, and loneliness. Alvin is currently working on an NIHR-funded project that examines loneliness and social isolation among young people living in coastal communities.
His PhD research explores the mental health status of British Nationals (Overseas) (BN(O)) migrants, a recent migrant group in the UK. The study involves an online survey to investigate the association between various socio-economic and individual factors and the mental health outcomes of BN(O)) migrants.
Before his doctoral study, he worked as a research assistant at the School of Public Health and Primary Care, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
