See the winners and runners up for our photography competition below
We are delighted to announce the winners and runners up for the ARC East of England Photography Competition. THANK YOU to everyone who took part!
We were blown away with the high standard of entries and it was great to see so many people capturing hidden gems and snapping the places and people which make local communities. We had over 60 fantastic entries and deciding on the winners was not easy - there was a lot of debate and discussion from our panel of judges!
Rosanna Fennessy, “It was a real joy to see the different and exciting ways adults, young people and groups captured aspects of their local community in pictures. It was very hard to choose the winners as there were so many great entries, but in the end, we selected those that we thought illustrated the diversity and uniqueness of the places and people in the East of England”
Jane Schultz: “It was very hard to decide on the wining images, as there were so many fantastic entries. We ultimately chose images that we felt immersed us in the local communities and people in the areas we work with”
The entries were split into three different categories: Adult, Young Person and Group. Find the top prizes from each category and five commendable entries below.
Adult 1st prize
Kate Ellis, Waveney, Title: Lowestoft Beach as a Gathering Place
Kate, “I remember hot chocolates after a dip in the sea made by my Grandma, and my Grandpa sitting in the beach hut watching the world go by. When First Light festival was established, it brought a completely new dynamic to the beach – one of music and community. The beach has so many memories for me, and I think this photo captures the role the beach and festival play as a meeting place”
Young Person 1st Prize
Kayleigh Galea, Stevenage, Title: My Happy Place
Group 1st Prize
Terry Brown, Thurrock, submitted on behalf of Tilbury’s Riverside Project, Title: Tilbury 2 tour Newport and Bridge
