How ARC East of England is supporting the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan for England

ARC East of England’s new annual summary showcases how we are actively contributing to the Government’s 10-year Health Plan, Fit for the Future, particularly across its three key shifts: moving care from hospital to community, preventing ill health, and digitising health and care.

We are pleased to share the release of the NIHR ARC East of England Impact Summary 2025, which highlights the impactful research taking place across our research themes. This year’s summary demonstrates how ARC East of England is actively supporting the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan for England, Fit for the Future.

The summary features case studies across our research themes, each aligned with one of three major shifts: hospital to community, sickness to prevention, and analogue to digital. Together they show our commitment to research that strengthens the sustainability of local health and care systems and improves outcomes for patients and the public.

“I am proud of the research carried out by NIHR ARC East of England and the many people who make this work possible. I hope this summary offers a glimpse into how our work is making a difference across our region and beyond.”

Professor Wendy Wills, Director of NIHR ARC East of England

In addition, the summary highlights several key accomplishments from the past year, including reporting £16.5 million in external funding, establishing a dedicated network for unpaid and family carers to advance carer-related research, and collaborating with over 200 partner organisations across the region.

“I am delighted to see our partnership with the ARC continue to make a significant difference to our local people. Our joint approach to delivering the NHS plan includes driving community-driven innovations, pioneering work in values-based mental healthcare and joined-up community mental health care. That is not just good practice; it is culture change.”

Steve Grange, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust

As ARC East of England continues to develop more responsive and impactful research, we look forward to sharing further developments over the coming year.
