Carole Gardener

Carole Gardener is a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and a researcher in NIHR ARC East of England’s Palliative and End-of-Life Care theme.

Carole has worked in health services research since 2013, predominantly in the area of supportive and palliative care. Prior to this she worked as a social worker primarily in the areas of mental health and homelessness. 

Her main research interests are focused around the delivery of holistic and person-centred care within healthcare, intervention development, informal carers and prison healthcare. Together with Professor Morag Farquhar (UEA) and Dr Gai Ewing  (University of Cambridge) she is also one of the developers of SNAP (the Support Needs for Patients) and she continues to explore the potential for SNAP across a range of settings (The Support Needs Approach for Patients). She is currently leading a Marie Curie funded study to adapt SNAP for people in prison with progressive conditions.
