Join ARC East of England as our new Co-Director

We are seeking a Co-Director with experience in a senior leadership role relevant to applied health, public health, or social care to enable the continued successful delivery and growth of ARC East of England.

The role will commence on 1 April 2026, aligning with the launch of the new NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East of England.

Working closely with the Director, Professor Stephen Morris (from April 2026), the Co-Director will bring experience in at least one of the following areas: applied research; knowledge mobilisation and impact; research capacity development; research inclusion; or patient and public involvement, engagement and participation. 

In this role, the Co-Director will deputise for the ARC East of England Director at meetings, attend relevant internal and external meetings, and build sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders. The role will also include oversight of selected ARC East of England research themes and/or workstreams, to be agreed with the Director in line with the candidate’s expertise and experience.

The Co-Director role requires an average commitment of one day per week.

Essential experience for this role

  • A post with University of Cambridge, University of East Anglia, University of Hertfordshire, University of Essex, Anglia Ruskin University or CPFT. This is required due to contractual arrangements.
  • A strong track record of skills and experience relevant to one or more of the NIHR ARC EoE research themes or workstreams.
  • Experience of working in collaboration with NIHR ARC East of England and/or the regional health systems and NIHR infrastructure.
  • Experience in leading and/or facilitating cross-sector collaborations or teams. 
  • Working knowledge of the regional health, public health, and social care organisation and delivery landscape.
  • Up-to-date understanding of the regional and national research infrastructure, including the NIHR and Health Innovation Networks.
