Health, Care or Voluntary Sector Role: Advanced Practice Physiotherapist
Supporting Organisation: Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust
I am a specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapist working in an Advanced Practice role. I am passionate about delivering best practice MSK care within the local community and helping people maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
The programme provides opportunity to develop my skills for implementing best practice and innovative models of care into everyday practice which can help improve the MSK health of local populations.
About Laura's fellowship project
Title: Impact of a community assessment day model for delivering MSK care in Peterborough [and across Cambridgeshire]
MSK community assessment days are a new, innovative model of care which have recently been utilised by musculoskeletal services around the country. The aim of my project is to help implement and maximise the impact of this model of care within Peterborough and across Cambridgeshire. The aim of these days is to provide timely access to expert specialist MSK help and advice and encourage people to take ownership of their MSK condition, preventing escalating health needs. The assessment days also bring together services which can help address other co-morbidities which will have an impact on MSK health conditions such as sedentary lifestyles, obesity and hypertension.
