Led by Charmaine Chandler, Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and Dr Lisa Taylor Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy, Kelly Walker, Associate Professor in Physiotherapy and Emma Ferris, Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy, School of Health Sciences, UEA.
Charmaine Chandler is an Occupational Therapy lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Charmaine is also programme director for the MSc pre-registration Occupational Therapy programme. Charmaine co-led the Rehabilitation Entrenched Community Integration Programme Evaluation (RECIPE) project for the MSc pre-registration Occupational Therapy students, fully evaluated and funded by the Elizabeth Casson Trust. Within this session the design, delivery and evaluation of the Rehabilitation Entrenched Community Integration Programme Evaluation (RECIPE) placement model will be explored.
Dr Lisa Taylor is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Lisa is also Associate Dean for Employability for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and is passionate about employability. Lisa has developed innovative and widely adopted employability initiatives in her employability roles. Lisa has published her employability work, presented at numerous National and International conferences and has edited a book “How to Develop your Healthcare Career – a guide to employability and professional development.” Lisa co-led the RECIPE project with Charmaine Chandler and will present the project jointly with Charmaine today. Lisa also created the Peer Enhanced e-Placement (PEEP) for the BSc Occupational Therapy students of which the design, delivery, evaluation and roll out of the PEEP will be presented today.
Emma Ferris is a Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Emma is also Academic Lead for Practice Education for the SLT programmes. Emma designed and then delivered, with support from the SLT team, a simulated peer placement for second year SLT students in April 2020, virtual observation days in November 2020, and now the current telehealth peer community placement project for final year SLT students. Within this session, the shared methodologies and their potential value post-pandemic of these placement models will be explored.
Kelly Walker is an Associate Professor in Physiotherapy in the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. Kelly is the Course Director for the BSc Physiotherapy programme, in addition to the HSC Director of Employability. Kelly and Suzanne (Academic lead for PT placements) organised at very short notice in response to the pandemic a virtual telehealth placement for 55 second year BSc students which was delivered and supported by the Physiotherapy academic staff team. Kelly will share the students’ feedback, the team’s reflections on the experience and lessons learned.
