Marina is currently the Researcher-in-Residence at Norfolk County Council in Adult Social Services, and is linked with the ASCENT project.
With extensive experience in research, public health, and NHS commissioning and information roles, Marina brings a well-rounded skill set in translating research into practice to support informed decision-making. She holds a PhD in Chemistry, along with additional qualifications in public health (MPH) and management (MBA). Her research has contributed to population health, dementia care, and community-driven initiatives, with findings published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at both national and international conferences.
Marina began her career in health and social care research as a Research Associate in the East of England CLAHRC, focusing on the role of ambulance services in caring for older people with dementia. This work recognised the role of frailty (or multimorbidities) as a driver for hospital admissions, rather than dementia itself, leading to collaborations across multiple organizations and universities.
Her career reflects a commitment to evidence-based approaches and fostering collaborative networks in both professional and academic environments. Additionally, her experience outside of research has provided valuable insight into working to different timeframes and expectations of what research and evaluation means and how it is valued, making her well-suited for this role.
