Lara Williamson is an Early Career Researcher and PhD student in the ARC theme of Inclusive Involvement in Research for Practice-led Health and Social Care, based at the University of East Anglia. She has post graduate qualifications in Conflict Resolution and Promoting Behaviour Change and two decades of experience of working in a variety of community roles in Norfolk for organisations which include High Schools, Public Health and Children’s Services.
Lara’s PhD study is on understanding how involvement in voluntary activities impacts on health inequalities in disadvantaged communities. She is carrying out an ethnographic study with communities within a coastal town in East Anglia.
Lara is focusing on how far engaging an individual’s sense of agency and collective efficacy through involvement in voluntary activities can contribute to building more inclusive communities better able to support health and social care needs.
