Golam leads the Inflammation and Psychiatry (InPsych) Research Group at the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry and is an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. Working at the interface between immunology and psychiatry, his research examines novel immunological mechanisms and treatment options for major psychiatric disorders, such as depression and schizophrenia, using epidemiological cohort and genetic studies, and randomised controlled trials. He is also interested in life-course epidemiology and shared mechanisms for comorbid physical and psychiatric disorders.
