Emilia Tylenda is a Senior Research Assistant at the University of Hertfordshire and the Impact Champion and a core team member for NIHR ARC East of England’s Prevention and Early Detection in Health and Social Care theme.
Emilia’s academic background spans the fields of Linguistics, Education, Criminology and Social Sciences. Her research interests include health inequalities, particularly access to preventive healthcare, as well as the social factors that shape health outcomes and involvement with the criminal justice system.
Emilia has worked on a project evaluating a culturally adapted intervention to increase cancer screening uptake among South Asian Muslims. She has also supported the dissemination of research into the cancer treatment experiences of South Asian women and contributed to a study examining food aid usage among older adults. Her forthcoming projects include investigating the relationship between food insecurity and domestic abuse, as well as an initiative to promote healthy eating and home cooking skills in low-income families. She also supports the organisation of community engagement events such as ARC community walks.
