Claire Wicks

Postdoctoral research fellow

Claire Wicks is a Postdoctoral research fellow in the Mental Health Over the Life Course theme’s Mental Health Capacity Building project. She is supporting research exploring mental health and care inequalities in the East of England and is based in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex.

Claire completed her MSc in Physical Activity and Health at Leeds Beckett University and her PhD in Health Studies at the University of Essex. She has worked alongside University of Essex colleagues to evaluate various initiatives deigned to treat and/or prevent mental ill health and improve wellbeing at local and national level.

Claire’s research interests focus on the psychological health benefits of green exercise, nature-based public health interventions, and green social prescribing.
