Annual Summary 2022/ 2023

Our annual summary gives an overview of new developments and key achievements from our 7 research themes and key workstreams, including one case study from each of our research themes and key workstreams.

Our aim is for our research to support and meet the ever-changing needs of our local populations and health and social care systems to increase their sustainability and improve outcomes for our communities. We achieve this by embedding public contributors into our core objectives, working with communities in our research, and working with our partners and Eastern Academic Health Science Network to support the implementation of our research.

Last year, we welcomed several new Theme Leads, and we were awarded over £10 million in research grants across our ninety on-going research projects. At the end of the financial year, we began to consult with our partners to ensure that our future priorities are aligned with our communities and the health and care systems’ needs. We are looking forward to more developments over the upcoming year.

“Our programme is going from strength to strength. The report demonstrates a snapshot of the many regional and nationally important projects we are leading and delivering on and the impact that our research is making… I want to thank everyone involved in ensuring the ARC programme continues to flourish during my first year as Director - it was a team effort!”

Professor Wendy Wills, Director of NIHR ARC East of England
