The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has awarded ARC East of England £560,000 as part of its £7.8 million investment to enhance knowledge mobilisation capacity and capability within the local health and social care systems over the next three years.
The NIHR-funded initiative aims to reduce the time it takes to roll out effective interventions, policies, and models of care to address high-priority national and regional challenges and maximise the impact of research.
Key priorities for the initiative include:
- supporting proven strategies, interventions and models of care to be implemented into practice, responding to high-priority areas from national policymakers, the health and care systems and patients and the public
- proactively engaging key stakeholders
- building a knowledge mobilisation community to share learning
- evaluating knowledge mobilisation activities to evidence what works, for whom and why
Receiving this funding will enable ARC East of England to advance our efforts in creating deep and meaningful engagement with communities and our health and care systems. We are pleased to welcome Danielle Tucker as our Academic Knowledge Mobilisation Lead, who will strengthen our knowledge mobilisation activities and help us demonstrate our impact to our health and care partners. This year, we will also launch an Impact (Knowledge Mobilisation) Fellowship programme aimed at developing the skills of professionals in health, social care and third-sector in knowledge mobilisation. Additionally, we will collaborate with our Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across the region to identify and fund six ICB Leads, further building knowledge mobilisation capacity within the health and care system. This programme will be led by Dr. Sarah Robinson, Implementation Lead at ARC East of England and Director of Delivery at the Health Innovation East.
In response to the announcement, Dr. Sarah Robinson, Implementation Lead at ARC East of England, shares:
"This is a great opportunity to ensure that the work of the ARC is aligned to system priorities and that we support systems to implement evidence-based transformational programmes to ensure impact for their populations."
What is knowledge mobilisation?
