Being able to describe the complex details of your research project in 'plain english' so that it is accessible to a wide audience is an essential skill for researchers to develop.
Thursday 13 Aug 2020 from 10:00 to 12:00
Lay or plain english summaries of research are an increasingly important part of many research applications, often the first document that the reviewing panel will read and particularly important where the reviewing panel has a lay reviewer on the selection panel.
Lay summaries can also be useful for disseminating your research to a wide audience, and helping to describe your research to potential participants or stakeholders.
Join this short, interactive session to look at what makes a successful lay summary, things to avoid based on feedback from our public contributors and to have a try at producing a lay summary for an example research project.
Attendees have the option to have their lay summaries reviewed by our lay panel after the event.
