Dr Sowmiya Moorthie is a research associate working on the Population Evidence and Data theme. She will contribute to the development, conduct, analysis and implementation of applied population health and care research with a focus on the use of data to improve health. Based at the University of Cambridge, Sowmiya will work closely with researchers from the other universities within the NIHR ARC collaboration. She also holds a role as a senior policy analyst at PHG Foundation – a health policy think tank.

Sowmiya has a PhD in biological sciences and a masters in Epidemiology. She has extensive experience in policy development for science and public health. At PHG Foundation, she is currently leading work to examine capacity development for personalised breast cancer prevention and the role of polygenic risk scores in prevention of common complex disorders.
